As a business considering going online you have a great deal to think about. You will be inundated with new ideas, words and things to consider. A great deal of time will need to be spent getting to grips with concepts and sifting out the good from the bad.

Some of the things your business would need to look at would include:

  • You could use one of the many website building products or do it your self ecommerce systems but you aren't the expert so be careful of this option. They are often very limiting and inflexible when it comes to customising any features or look.
  • You need to create a design that works for your clients.
  • You need to decide on payment mechanisms.
  • Consider your online targets, markets and needs.
  • Technologies and their expandability.
  • Look at both online and offline marketing plans.
  • Consider the integration and training needed to run the website and your staff.
  • Purchasing infrastructure.
  • Delivery and return plans.

These are just some of the things you need to consider when building an online system. Depending upon the products or services you are selling online there is a lot more you can robably think of.

Building and producing a successfull website takes a greater understanding than just adding products to a ready made template.
